ABOUT SURGE

We're a full-service online services agency with internal Design, Media, Content, Marketing, Social and SEO teams and we offer a lot more than just your average brochure and e-commerce sites.

We currently have iOS, Android, Software and multi-million eCommerce projects in active development so the opportunities are broad, and going.

THE ROLE

The role includes meeting with clients to gather requirements, plan and decide project objectives and create visual graphics that resonate with the consumer visually or by improving the overall customer experience.

The designs should capture the attention of those who see them and communicate the right message.

Unfortunately we're not looking for fully remote or hybrid workers, this role is based in a collaborative environment at our offices in Middlesbrough, we do however offer flexible working to suit the unexpected and all staff have a fixed work from home day too.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

As Graphic Designer at Surge you will be expected to create visual graphics for a variety of projects including:


  • Websites

    • UX design

    • UI design

  • Social media graphics

  • Motion graphics

  • Branding

    • Logo design

  • Packaging

  • Advertising

  • Printed material

    • Brochure

    • Leaflets

    • Business cards

    • Exhibition Graphics


Essential Software Skills:

  • Figma

  • Illustrator

  • Photoshop

  • Indesign


Desirable Software Skills:

  • After Effects

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creative thinking to devise original and exciting visual concepts.

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks, to work on multiple projects at once.

  • Collaborating with other creatives in a design team to ensure a common vision and consistent branding.

  • Keeping a client up-to-date with regard to project progress and applying client recommendations.

  • Keeping up-to-date with design and multimedia trends and the latest developments in software tools.

  • Testing graphics across various media.

  • Presenting final design concepts, including specifications for fonts, images, colours, text and layout, to clients for their approval.

  • Audit client websites from a design perspective and recommend changes to improve user experience and style.

  • Liaise with clients and developers to ensure recommendations are implemented successfully.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.

  • Work alongside the development and marketing teams to deliver websites that work.

  • Support the development team with website launches, migrations and testing.

  • Always demonstrate behaviours that reflect our core values and re-enforce them within the team.

SALARY EXPECTATIONS:

We appreciate everyone wants to know the salary before they apply, but the range for this position is too broad, and the final package will be based on the right candidate, the right fit, the number of years of experience and what else they can add to the team beyond the above.


INTERVIEW PROCESS:

Stage 1:


The first interview is all about your technical ability, previous experience and your ability to carry out the role. 


Stage 2:


Based on a successful first interview, you will be set a task. Don’t worry, this isn’t anything client facing, it’s designed to test your problem solving skills. 


The second interview is around you as a person and how you would complement the existing team. We will also review the task you completed.


Stage 3:


We will let you know our decision either way and provide some feedback.
